Software Engineer in Research and Development at Cvent

About me

I am a Software Engineer currently working in research and development at Cvent. I'm interested in virtual reality, artificial intelligence, home/process automation, and general problem solving. I spend a lot of my free time working on my homelab and listening to music. I also enjoy puzzle, free build, and strategy video games. Some of my favorites are Portal, Kerbal Space Program, Civilization, and Besiege.

I've worked with a large variety of technologies and tools throughout my school, professional, and personal technology experience. Take a look at my projects page to see some of my favorites.

Other (Non-tech) Interests

Philosophy

My first semester in college I took a 101 Philosophy class and I loved it. The next semester I declared it as minor so I could get into the more complex topics. The deeper I got, the more I enjoyed it. My favorite Philosophy classes I took were Metaphysics, Epistemology, and Philosophy of Quantum Theory. I think the abstract and logic based methods really complemented my Computer Science work.

Music

Growing up I was always interested in music and playing with instruments on my own without training. I started actually learning piano and trumpet in middle school and began to become more involved in music. I especially enjoyed playing trumpet in my high school jazz band. This continued in college where I was in the JMU concert band and did some composition. Whenever I'm working I'm also listening to music and I still love playing whenever I get the chance.
