Cvent

I did a software engineering internship at Cvent during the Summer of 2018. In this internship I learned about how software development actually works in the industry. I created a Salesforce data scrubbing tool, a Slack bot to manage licenses, and a few more smaller things. After finishing my internship I was offered a full-time software engineering position when I graduated.

I started full time at Cvent in June 2019 and am currently working in the research and development department.

James Madison University

At JMU I took a virtual reality, augmented reality, and 360 degree media class that I really enjoyed and have become quite passionate about. At the end of the class the professor asked me to come back as a teacher's assistant the following semester. In the end I participated in 1 class and was a TA for 2. As a TA my main responsibility was to be a resource for students working on projects from augmented reality apps, to motion tracking for use in physical therapy, to 360 degree projection domes. I also ensured all computers and headsets were working as they should be. As part of this job I was also tasked with managing a $2,000 budget to design and build a VR capable portable PC. For more information about what I and other students in these classes worked on see the class project websites (Spring 2018, Fall 2018, Spring 2019).

Kilmarnock Baptist Church

I was an intern at Kilmarnock Baptist Church in the Summer of 2017. My largest responsibilities in that position were to run a weekly youth group for 6-12 graders in the area and design a live streaming system to stream the weekly church services to YouTube. I learned a lot about leadership during this internship, especially from running the youth group. After this internship was over I continued to maintain the streaming system and run the stream every Sunday while not at school.

Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club

Working at Indian creek was my first real work experience. I spent 5 Summers from 2013-2017 working as a cart attendant and a lifeguard. As a cart attendant I worked wherever I was needed. That included answering phones, running the cash register, cleaning golf carts and clubs, picking balls from the driving range, and whatever else members needed. As a lifeguard I performed the basic duties of a lifeguard as well as training new lifeguards and supervising them when management couldn't be present during my last year.
