Virtual reality campus tour

Tech used: Oculus rift, Leap motion, Insta360 camera, Unity, C#

This project is a tour of the James Madison University campus in VR. The user wears an Oculus headset and is placed inside a series of 360 degree images and videos taken with an insta360 camera. They are able to navigate by pressing buttons in the world with their hands which are tracked with a Leap Motion mounted to the front of the headset. This approach to hand tracking means no controllers are needed. The tour is now set up in booths in JMU's admissions office for prospective students to use.

This tour was a collaborative interdisciplinary effort by a group of Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Industrial Design, and Media Arts and Design students.

Augmented Reality Amusement Park Map

Tech used: Unity, C#, Vuforia

This project is an interactive augmented reality map of Busch Gardens amusement park. It is an android app that, when aimed at a Busch Gardens map renders cards with information on wait time for the rides and 3d models of the rides over their position on the map. Using this app, patrons of the amusement park could easily see which rides have long waits, which rides have a short wait, and which rides are closed for maintenance. It was created in Unity using Vuforia as the AR engine.
